Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end biweekly payroll processing across four entities using Paycor
• Manage prevailing wage and certified payroll compliance
• Lead full benefits administration, including enrollments, life events, and open enrollment
• Perform monthly benefit invoice reconciliation and carrier coordination
• Handle onboarding and offboarding documentation
• Provide first-level employee support regarding pay and benefits inquiries
• Serve as backup coverage for the Director of HR

Requirements

• 3–5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience
• Strong working knowledge of California payroll law, wage and hour rules, and final pay requirements
• Experience with Paycor or a comparable HRIS platform
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data, reporting, and reconciliation
• Experience with prevailing wage compliance
• High degree of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in benefits administration and carrier coordination
• Exposure to CFRA, FEHA, and California-specific compliance
• Background in trades, field service, or multi-location environments
• FPC or CPP certification
• Spanish fluency
