About the role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including maternity top-ups, stipends, and other payouts
  • Manage confidential employee records within the HRIS for approximately 17,000 employees
  • Investigate and resolve payroll queries regarding pay stubs, T4s, and general inquiries
  • Support the bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll runs
  • Verify and audit employment-related transactions such as hires, salary changes, transfers, and terminations
  • Provide support and advice to managers regarding payroll, benefits, and collective agreements
  • Assist with year-end reconciliations and internal/external audit processes
  • Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROE) and confirmation of employment letters

Requirements

  • National Payroll Institute Designation (PCP)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Payroll Administration experience
  • Solid understanding of the Employment Standards Act (ESA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of union collective agreements
  • Mandatory experience working with HRIS (experience with VIP HRIS is an asset)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Experience with in-house payroll administration
