About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including maternity top-ups, stipends, and other payouts
- Manage confidential employee records within the HRIS for approximately 17,000 employees
- Investigate and resolve payroll queries regarding pay stubs, T4s, and general inquiries
- Support the bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll runs
- Verify and audit employment-related transactions such as hires, salary changes, transfers, and terminations
- Provide support and advice to managers regarding payroll, benefits, and collective agreements
- Assist with year-end reconciliations and internal/external audit processes
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROE) and confirmation of employment letters
Requirements
- National Payroll Institute Designation (PCP)
- Minimum of 2 years of Payroll Administration experience
- Solid understanding of the Employment Standards Act (ESA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Working knowledge of union collective agreements
- Mandatory experience working with HRIS (experience with VIP HRIS is an asset)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to handle highly confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a healthcare environment
- Experience with in-house payroll administration
