Payroll Accountant

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly payroll interface files from the payroll system to the General Ledger
• Partner with HR Payroll to identify and resolve General Ledger account coding issues and data discrepancies
• Generate monthly payroll expense reports for Controllers and key stakeholders
• Process union remittances for dues, Health & Welfare, and pension payments in compliance with collective bargaining agreements
• Process and prepare vendor invoices related to employee benefits
• Reconcile payroll and benefit accounts on a monthly basis
• Maintain and update procedural documentation
• Support additional general accounting tasks as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• At least one year of professional accounting experience
• Advanced Excel skills for accounting tasks and analysis
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Power BI, and ERP systems (such as JD Edwards or Oracle Analytics Server)
• Strong analytical thinking and clear verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to apply accounting principles to prepare journal entries and complete reconciliations
