Payment Processing Specialist

Responsibilities

• Collect and process patient payments including co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay balances
• Review patient accounts and insurance eligibility to calculate financial responsibility
• Process credit card, debit card, check, and electronic payment transactions
• Post payments to patient accounts and reconcile daily payment batches
• Identify and resolve payment discrepancies, overpayments, and refund requests
• Communicate patient financial responsibilities clearly and professionally
• Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and PCI-DSS standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, healthcare collections, or related financial roles
• Working knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance terminology
• Proficiency with practice management software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech)
• Familiarity with CPT codes, ICD-10 coding basics, and EOB documents
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or Business
• Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) credential
• Experience with pre-authorization and insurance eligibility verification
• Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements
• Bilingual proficiency
