Patrol Officer II

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety, enforce University rules, and protect life and property within the University community.
• Act as a first responder to campus emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and burglary alarms.
• Conduct proactive patrols of University buildings, facilities, and assets to prevent criminal activity.
• Perform preliminary investigations of policy violations and prepare detailed written incident reports.
• Assist with building access, vehicle lockouts, and emergency evacuations.
• Enforce campus parking regulations and issue citations as directed.
• Provide crowd control and direction during special events such as athletic competitions and commencement.
• Interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff using community service-oriented techniques.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• At least one year of experience in security, police, EMS, or fire services (military experience accepted).
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet University motor vehicle requirements.
• Strong report writing and general computer skills.
• Excellent verbal communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work around-the-clock shifts and stand or walk for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Technician certification.
• Knowledge of safety and security practices within a college or university setting.
• Familiarity with basic investigative techniques.
• Understanding of emergency response procedures, including First Aid, CPR, and the Incident Command System (ICS) or NIMS.
