About the role

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate divisional patient care services, including appointment scheduling, check-in/out, and telephone triage.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
  • Verify patient demographic details, medical history, and insurance coverage.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations for the clerical team and provide leadership and role modeling for staff.
  • Assist in training, onboarding, and providing in-service education for permanent and float staff.
  • Manage specialized scheduling, supply ordering, and clerical equipment maintenance.
  • Identify operational problems and participate in developing procedural improvements and work processes.
  • Handle patient payments and provide receipts according to established guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of professional experience.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including active listening.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, potentially stressful environment.
  • Demonstrated dependability, professionalism, and ability to work effectively in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of customer service experience within a medical environment.
  • 1 or more years of administrative supervision experience in patient access.
  • Working knowledge of MiChart (Cadence, EpicCare, and Radiant).
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
