About the role
Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients upon arrival, collecting demographics, referrals, insurance, and billing information
- Perform pre-admission, registration, discharge, and transfer processes
- Verify insurance coverage and perform pre- and post-billing functions
- Assist patients with financial and billing inquiries and perform collection functions
- Respond to patient inquiries in-person and via written correspondence
- Resolve patient questions or complaints and escalate concerns when necessary
- Prepare departmental correspondence, including clinic consultation notes and referral letters
- Answer incoming calls and assist with general clerical duties
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to accurately and efficiently enter alphanumeric data
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Proficiency in using personal computers and software applications, specifically Epic
- Successful completion of competencies related to Cadence Scheduling and Point of Service Collection policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
- Prior experience in a medical practice setting with knowledge of insurance protocols
- Previous experience in an Oncology setting
