Patient Services Representative

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients, collecting demographics, insurance, and billing information
• Schedule medical procedures and services using Cadence Scheduling
• Perform pre-admission, registration, discharge, and transfer processes
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for outpatient services
• Provide financial counseling to patients and families regarding hospital payment policies
• Assist with financial inquiries, resolve charge disputes, and process patient payments
• Handle incoming calls and perform general clerical duties to support the department
• Resolve patient questions or complaints and escalate concerns when necessary

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Proficiency in Epic software and successful completion of Cadence Scheduling competencies
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm and 4500 keystrokes per hour
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to accurately enter alphanumeric data and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
• Prior experience in a medical practice setting
• In-depth knowledge of insurance protocols
