Patient Services Representative, Ophthalmology

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients, collecting demographics, insurance, and billing information
• Schedule medical procedures, services, and create reservations
• Perform pre-admission, registration, discharge, and transfer processes
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for outpatient services
• Provide financial counseling to patients and families regarding hospital payment policies
• Resolve patient inquiries, charge disputes, and process refunds or payments
• Manage incoming calls and perform general clerical duties for the Ophthalmology department

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Proficiency with Epic software and Cadence Scheduling system
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and challenging situations effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
• Prior experience in a medical practice setting
• In-depth knowledge of insurance protocols
