About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide intermediate level customer service and clerical support to patients in inpatient or outpatient settings.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Verify patient information, including demographics, medical history, and insurance coverage.
- Facilitate business processes such as appointment scheduling, check-in/check-out, and telephone triage.
- Coordinate appointments using Epic (MiChart), including explaining preparation requirements and gathering documentation.
- Serve as a primary point of contact between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.
- Manage daily clinic tasks including file preparation, reminder calls, referral tracking, and in-basket messages.
- Collect patient payments, including cash and credit cards, and provide receipts.
Requirements
- 3 or more years of customer service experience within a medical environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
- Proficiency with Epic/MiChart electronic health record system.
