Patient Services Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical support to nursing staff to assist with direct and indirect patient care
• Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the patient environment, including isolation rooms, dialysis machines, and patient chairs
• Assist with basic food preparation, meal ordering, and the distribution of nutritional requirements to patients
• Manage stock levels by monitoring consumables, ordering supplies, and performing regular stocktakes
• Arrange patient transport from dialysis treatments
• Ensure the routine collection and appropriate disposal of linen, rubbish, and contaminated waste
• Promote a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety policies
• Assist with administrative tasks such as filing and answering telephone enquiries

Requirements

• Previous experience in a patient assistant role
• Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working within a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) protocols
• Demonstrated skills in food preparation and presentation
• Basic computer literacy and office skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a Patient Service Assistant Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Knowledge of Infection Control and hygiene principles
• Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives
