Patient Services Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical support to nursing staff to assist with direct and indirect patient care
• Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the patient environment, including dialysis machines, chairs, and isolation rooms
• Assist with basic food preparation, meal ordering, and the distribution of nutritional requirements to patients
• Manage stock levels by monitoring consumables, ordering supplies, and performing regular stocktakes
• Coordinate the collection and appropriate disposal of linen, rubbish, and contaminated waste
• Arrange patient transport from dialysis treatments
• Assist with basic office tasks such as filing and answering telephone enquiries
• Promote a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety policies

Requirements

• Previous experience in a patient assistant role
• Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working within a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles
• Skills in food preparation and presentation
• Basic computer literacy and office skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a Patient Service Assistant Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Knowledge of Infection Control and hygiene principles
• Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives
