About the role
Responsibilities
- Screen patients on-site at hospitals (bedside or in the ER) for eligibility for State, County, and Federal assistance programs
- Identify self-pay patients by reviewing hospital census and referral methods
- Assist patients with the enrollment application process for appropriate assistance agencies
- Introduce Firstsource services to patients and maintain regular communication regarding their progress
- Document all screening results in onsite tracking tools and hospital computer systems
- Conduct patient home visits as required to screen for program eligibility
- Maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff and adhere to all confidentiality and compliance protocols
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time
- Availability to work onsite in Grand Rapids, MI (Schedule: Wed - Sat, 11AM - 9:30PM)
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or eligibility assistance
- Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting
- Strong customer service experience
