Patient Financial Advocate

Responsibilities

• Screen patients on-site at hospitals (bedside or in the ER) for eligibility for State, County, and Federal assistance programs
• Identify self-pay patients by reviewing hospital census and referral methods
• Assist patients with the enrollment application process for appropriate assistance agencies
• Introduce Firstsource services to patients and maintain regular communication regarding their progress
• Document all screening results in onsite tracking tools and hospital computer systems
• Conduct patient home visits as required to screen for program eligibility
• Maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff and adhere to all confidentiality and compliance protocols

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time
• Availability to work onsite in Grand Rapids, MI (Schedule: Wed - Sat, 11AM - 9:30PM)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or eligibility assistance
• Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting
• Strong customer service experience
