About the role
Responsibilities
- Screen patients on-site at hospitals (bedside or in the ER) for eligibility for State, County, and Federal assistance programs.
- Identify self-pay patients by reviewing hospital census or utilizing established referral methods.
- Assist patients with the enrollment application process for appropriate assistance agencies.
- Introduce Firstsource services to patients and provide regular updates on their application progress.
- Document all screening results in the onsite tracking tool and hospital computer systems.
- Conduct face-to-face screenings or follow up via telephone when bedside access is unavailable.
- Perform outside field work, including patient home visits, to screen for program eligibility.
- Maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff and adhere to all confidentiality and compliance protocols.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Availability to work the scheduled shift (Sunday - Wednesday, 8am - 6pm).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or hospital/government eligibility.
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Experience working within a healthcare or medical facility environment.
