About the role
Responsibilities
- Screen patients on-site at medical facilities (bedside or in the ER) to identify eligibility for state, county, and federal assistance programs.
- Review hospital census and utilize referral methods to identify self-pay patients.
- Initiate the application process for assistance programs bedside whenever possible.
- Assist patients with enrollment applications and introduce them to Firstsource services.
- Document all screening results in the onsite tracking tool and hospital computer systems.
- Conduct face-to-face screenings or follow up via telephone when necessary.
- Perform outside field work, including patient home visits, to screen for program eligibility.
- Maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff and adhere to all confidentiality and compliance policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or eligibility assistance (hospital or government).
- Previous customer service experience.
