About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operating room cleanliness and environment, including scrub areas and hallways
  • Assist with surgical preparation, including retrieving monitors, specialty beds, and equipment
  • Ensure availability of necessary instruments and supplies; assist with opening them for cases
  • Support nursing staff in patient preparation, including lifting, positioning, and prepping
  • Deliver blood products and specimens to appropriate locations
  • Transport patients, beds, and stretchers between units and the operating room
  • Respond to emergency and trauma cases to assist the surgical team as directed
  • Demonstrate appropriate infection control and universal precautions
  • Perform post-mortem care and transportation as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Progressive knowledge of medical methods, procedures, materials, and equipment
  • Ability to perform physical activities including standing, walking, lifting, and positioning patients
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, stressful environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of methods and equipment used in laboratory or patient care activities
  • Minimum 1-2 years of recent experience in an unlicensed assistive role in a hospital or healthcare setting
