Patient Care Technician Preceptor

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Operate and maintain hemodialysis machines and ensure proper setup and disinfection
• Perform vascular access cannulation, evaluate patency, and administer heparin as permitted
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment, documenting all data accurately
• Act as a preceptor to provide clinical orientation and ongoing training for new staff
• Conduct competency evaluations and audits to ensure high standards of patient care
• Assist in infection control audits and reinforce adherence to safety protocols
• Support the Transitional Care Unit by coordinating care for newly admitted patients

Requirements

• CCHT Certification Required
• Valid PCT national or state certification
• CPR certification
• High School diploma or G.E.D.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least five years of patient care experience in a hospital or related clinical setting
