Patient Care Technician Preceptor

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up and operate hemodialysis machines and perform necessary machine safety checks
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by law
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment before, during, and after dialysis
• Act as a preceptor to provide clinical orientation and ongoing training for direct patient care personnel
• Conduct competency evaluations and audits to ensure high standards of performance among PCT staff
• Assist in the recruitment process and support the clinical training of new staff members
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including the disinfection of equipment and treatment areas
• Document all treatment data, vital signs, and patient observations accurately in clinical applications
• Support infection control practices and participate in facility quality improvement activities

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CCHT Certification Required
• Valid PCT national or state certification
• Current CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least five years of patient care experience in a hospital or related clinical setting
