Patient Care Technician - PCT

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up and operate hemodialysis machines and perform required machine safety checks
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to dialysis therapy before, during, and after treatment
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform cannulation as permitted by state law
• Document accurate and timely treatment data, including vital signs and machine parameters, in clinical applications
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment, including disinfecting equipment between treatments
• Assist in collecting laboratory specimens and preparing them for transport
• Support infection control practices and participate in quality improvement activities

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for prolonged periods and lifting/moving patients or equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
