Patient Care Technician - PCT

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure all safety alarms are enabled
• Perform vascular access cannulation, evaluate access for patency, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment before, during, and after dialysis
• Document accurate and timely information regarding treatment parameters and patient condition in clinical applications
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting machines, equipment, and surrounding areas
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing according to required specifications
• Assist in patient education regarding disease processes and treatment adequacy

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to obtain CMS-approved state or national certification within the required timeline
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for prolonged periods and lifting up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
• Experience in a dialysis clinical setting
