Patient Care Technician - PCT CCHT - Dialysis II

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up and operate hemodialysis machines and perform required machine safety checks
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by law
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment before, during, and after dialysis
• Calculate and enter individual patient dialysis machine programming, including Ultrafiltration (UF) goals
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment parameters and patient progress notes
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting equipment and surrounding areas
• Assist in the coordination of transitional care for newly admitted patients

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification
• Current CPR certification
• Successful completion of a dialysis training program

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
