Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing care activities under RN supervision, including monitoring vital signs, blood glucose measurements, and recording intake/output
• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, or emotional conditions to nursing staff
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms
• Utilize critical thinking to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, stressful environment
• Serve as a liaison between patient care units and other departments
• Manage unit workflow and assist with pre-census and admission/discharge validation as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• Nursing student with at least one clinical rotation or one semester of clinicals completed
• CPR – Basic Life Support certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of hospital-based Patient Care Technician experience
• Phlebotomy experience
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant or Phlebotomy program
