Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and equipment
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform cannulation as permitted by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and patient assessments
• Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments according to prescribed physician orders
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and report any significant changes in condition to the RN or supervisor
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by disinfecting machines, chairs, and surrounding areas
• Document all treatment data, vital signs, and interventions accurately in clinical applications

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification (or ability to meet requirements within the required timeline)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
