Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure all safety alarms are enabled
• Perform vascular access cannulation, evaluate access for patency, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment before, during, and after dialysis
• Document accurate and timely treatment data, including vital signs and machine parameters, in clinical applications
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting equipment and surrounding areas between treatments
• Assist in collecting laboratory specimens and preparing them for transport
• Support infection control practices and participate in quality improvement activities

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification (or ability to meet requirements within the required timeline)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, and moving of patients
• Flexibility to float to sister clinics as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related healthcare facility
• No previous dialysis experience is required; on-the-job training is provided
