Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure all safety alarms are enabled
• Perform vascular access cannulation, evaluate access for patency, and administer heparin as allowed by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and treatment parameters
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report any significant changes in condition to the registered nurse
• Prepare, collect, and label laboratory specimens for testing
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting machines, equipment, and surrounding areas
• Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in designated applications and treatment sheets

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification (or ability to meet requirements within the required timeline)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
