Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and equipment
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and patient assessments
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and intervene according to physician orders
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by disinfecting machines and treatment areas
• Document accurate and timely treatment data, progress notes, and laboratory specimens
• Assist in patient education regarding disease processes and treatment adequacy

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification (or ability to meet requirements within the required timeline)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing for prolonged periods
• Ability to pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related healthcare facility
