Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure all safety alarms are enabled
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and patient responses
• Calculate and enter individual patient dialysis machine programming, including ultrafiltration goals
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by disinfecting machines, chairs, and equipment
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing and ensure proper storage and labeling
• Document all treatment data, vital signs, and patient observations accurately in clinical applications
• Assist in patient education regarding disease processes and treatment adequacy

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Must meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required timeline
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for prolonged periods and lifting up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
