Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure all safety alarms are enabled
• Perform vascular access cannulation, evaluate access for patency, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and patient responses to therapy
• Calculate and enter individual patient dialysis machine programming, including ultrafiltration goals and treatment time
• Prepare, collect, and label laboratory specimens according to required specifications
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting machines, equipment, and surrounding areas
• Document all treatment data, vital signs, and patient observations accurately and timely in clinical applications

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform frequent, prolonged periods of standing
• Ability to pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
