Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and equipment
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and patient assessments
• Monitor patient response to therapy and intervene according to physician orders
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, including disinfecting machines and treatment areas
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
• Document all treatment data, vital signs, and patient observations accurately in clinical applications

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, standing for prolonged periods, and bending

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related healthcare facility
