Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure safety alarms are enabled
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and treatment parameters
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report any significant changes in condition to the RN or supervisor
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting machines, chairs, and equipment
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
• Assist in patient education regarding disease processes and treatment adequacy

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, and moving of patients

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
