Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and equipment
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and patient status
• Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments according to prescribed orders and established procedures
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and report significant changes to the registered nurse or supervisor
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by disinfecting machines, chairs, and surrounding areas
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of treatment data and patient progress notes

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with patient movement/ambulation
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform frequent bending

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
