Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure safety alarms are enabled
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and treatment parameters
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report any significant changes in condition to the RN or supervisor
• Prepare, collect, and label laboratory specimens according to specifications
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting machines, equipment, and surrounding areas
• Assist in patient education regarding disease processes and treatment adequacy

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state and/or national certification
• Previous dialysis experience (required for this Per Diem role)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, moving patients, and prolonged standing
