Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and equipment
• Perform vascular access cannulation and evaluate access for patency
• Obtain and record patient vital signs, weight, and treatment parameters
• Monitor patient response to therapy and intervene as prescribed by physician orders
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, including disinfecting equipment between treatments
• Complete accurate clinical documentation and maintain patient records
• Assist in collecting laboratory specimens and preparing them for testing

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing for prolonged periods
• Ability to pass the Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related healthcare facility
• Experience in a dialysis setting
