Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and perform safety checks on hemodialysis machines
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and response to treatment before, during, and after sessions
• Perform vascular access cannulation and evaluate access for patency
• Document accurate and timely treatment data, including vital signs and machine parameters
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by disinfecting equipment and treatment areas
• Assist in collecting laboratory specimens and preparing them for testing
• Support infection control practices and participate in quality improvement activities

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification (or ability to meet requirements within the required timeline)
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for prolonged periods and lifting up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related healthcare facility
• Experience in a dialysis setting
