Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and equipment
• Perform vascular access cannulation and evaluate access for patency
• Obtain and record patient vital signs, weight, and pre/post-treatment evaluations
• Administer Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report any unusual findings to the nurse supervisor
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, including disinfecting equipment between treatments
• Complete accurate clinical documentation and enter treatment data into designated applications
• Prepare and collect laboratory specimens according to required specifications

Requirements

• CMS-approved certification or High school diploma/GED
• Successful completion of a dialysis training program
• Current CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related healthcare facility
