Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Function as part of a hemodialysis healthcare team to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up and operate hemodialysis machines and perform required machine safety checks
• Monitor patient response to therapy, including obtaining pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights
• Perform vascular access evaluation and cannulation
• Assist in the administration of Heparin as delegated or allowed by state law
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment, including disinfecting equipment between treatments
• Document accurate and timely information regarding patient treatment and vital signs in clinical applications
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing

Requirements

• CMS-approved certification or High school diploma/GED
• Must meet all applicable state certification requirements
• Successful completion of CPR certification
• Ability to pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
