Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up, operate, and monitor hemodialysis machines and ensure all safety alarms are enabled
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted by state law
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and treatment parameters
• Monitor patient response to therapy and intervene according to physician orders or nurse direction
• Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment by disinfecting machines, chairs, and equipment between treatments
• Document all treatment data, progress notes, and patient information accurately in clinical applications

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• CMS-approved state or national certification (or ability to meet requirements within the required timeline)
• Current CPR certification
• Successful completion of an approved dialysis training program
• Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs) and prolonged standing

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related healthcare facility
