About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and technical support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Obtain and monitor vital signs, including temperature, weight, oxygen saturation, and pain scores
- Perform specimen collection, including blood, urine, stool, and sputum
- Assist with patient activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, feeding, and mobility
- Perform technical tasks including ECGs, wound care, and simple dressing changes
- Assist with clinical procedures, admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment and stock necessary medical supplies
- Document all care provided and report abnormal patient values to the RN
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- One of the following: 6 months of experience in skilled long-term or acute care, enrollment in a nursing program with completed fundamentals, 1 year of short-term care experience, or completion of a CNA program
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities, including moving, transporting, and positioning patients and equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program
- Basic computer skills
- Coursework in an Allied Health field
