Patient Care Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Greet patients promptly and answer telephones in a friendly, professional manner
• Schedule appointments via phone or in person to optimize provider time and patient satisfaction
• Manage patient flow by notifying providers of arrivals and monitoring service delays
• Facilitate appointment reminders and order pickup notifications
• Record financial information, collect patient charges, and manage third-party insurance claims
• Determine medical and vision insurance eligibility based on patient coverage
• Maintain office inventory, equipment, and supplies in partnership with the Practice Manager
• Protect patient confidentiality and medical records in strict accordance with HIPAA regulations
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment for all team members and patients

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent
• 2+ years of office experience in a healthcare setting
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication and active listening abilities
• Proven problem-solving and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) and patient record software systems
• Basic knowledge of vision insurance plans, coverage, and optical products
• Experience in an optometry or ophthalmic practice environment
