About the role

Responsibilities

  • Screen hospital patients on-site (bedside or in the ER) for eligibility for State, County, and Federal assistance programs
  • Identify self-pay patients by reviewing hospital census and referral methods
  • Initiate the application process for assistance programs with patients whenever possible
  • Introduce patients to Firstsource services and explain the ongoing support process
  • Document all screening results and patient information in the onsite tracking tool and hospital computer systems
  • Maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff across all departments
  • Perform occasional field work, including patient home visits, to screen for program eligibility

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Up-to-date immunizations (required due to healthcare setting)
  • Ability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or eligibility (hospital or government)
  • Previous customer service experience
