Patient Admitting Specialist

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and maintain compliance with departmental benchmark guidelines
• Verify and update patient information, including insurance eligibility and benefit coverage
• Identify and collect co-pays, deductibles, and other required payments
• Ensure all necessary paperwork, including HIPAA regulations and patient signatures, is completed
• Request and scan insurance cards and other required forms of identification
• Maintain a registration error accuracy rate of 97% or higher
• Coordinate with staff to ensure timely patient registration and assist with scheduling
• Handle incoming calls, faxes, and messages in a professional and timely manner
• Create a welcoming and empathetic environment for all patients and visitors

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or higher level degree
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Basic knowledge of insurance eligibility and benefits
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to operate general office equipment such as computers, printers, and scanners

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting
• Prior experience in a customer service role
• Ability to handle difficult or stressful situations with a calm and professional demeanor
