About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks related to the collection of outstanding patient account balances
- Review work queues and prioritize job functions for timely follow-up
- Receive and answer inquiries from patients and insurance companies regarding billing discrepancies
- Address customer complaints and concerns promptly
- Document all customer conversations in a concise manner
- Update demographic and insurance information to maintain accurate accounts
- Explain Business Office policies and insurance benefit information to patients and families
- Assist patients with setting up payment plans or Financial Assistance programs
- Make outbound collection calls and submit refund requests
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospital business office self-pay collections
- Ability to interpret patient insurance benefit information
- Strong customer service and communication skills
