About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely patient data entry to ensure successful medical service billing and financial stability.
- Validate patient eligibility, benefits, and medical group affiliations through telephone, payer websites, or registration applications.
- Collect all required data elements to complete the intake process within the hospital revenue cycle system.
- Maintain working knowledge of sponsored programs including Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Tricare, as well as other contracted insurance payers.
- Create cost estimates and collect patient financial responsibility payments for hospital services.
- Greet customers professionally and manage telephone inquiries promptly and courteously.
- Utilize hospital tracking systems to arrange proper patient placement on nursing units.
- Participate in daily performance improvement huddles and interdepartmental committees.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, the medical industry, or customer service.
- Working knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and medical staff.
