About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient data entry and intake processes to ensure accurate medical service billing and financial stability.
  • Validate patient eligibility, benefits, and medical group affiliation through telephone, payer websites, or registration applications.
  • Collect required data elements to complete the intake process within the hospital revenue cycle system.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Tricare, and other contracted insurance payers and authorization requirements.
  • Create estimates and collect patient financial responsibility payments for hospital services.
  • Greet customers promptly and handle telephone inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Utilize hospital tracking systems to arrange proper patient placement on nursing units.
  • Complete the Midnight Census and ensure all necessary changes are made in applicable systems nightly.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, the medical industry, or customer service.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal.
  • Proven insurance verification skills.
  • Ability to work evening shifts in an Emergency Department setting.
