About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform patient data entry and intake processes to ensure accurate medical service billing and financial stability.
- Validate patient eligibility, benefits, and medical group affiliation through telephone, payer websites, or registration applications.
- Collect required data elements to complete the intake process within the hospital revenue cycle system.
- Maintain working knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Tricare, and other contracted insurance payers and authorization requirements.
- Create estimates and collect patient financial responsibility payments for hospital services.
- Greet customers promptly and handle telephone inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Utilize hospital tracking systems to arrange proper patient placement on nursing units.
- Complete the Midnight Census and ensure all necessary changes are made in applicable systems nightly.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, the medical industry, or customer service.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal.
- Proven insurance verification skills.
- Ability to work evening shifts in an Emergency Department setting.
