About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as a field-based specialist helping patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers navigate insurance coverage and reimbursement pathways
- Assist stakeholders in understanding payer requirements, prior authorization processes, and available patient support resources
- Support the identification and resolution of access challenges, including coverage questions and denied claims
- Provide education to physician offices and sites of care regarding coding, billing, and reimbursement considerations
- Develop relationships with patients and caregivers to assess needs and provide resources such as co-pay assistance or financial programs
- Partner with internal teams including Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Case Management to support the patient journey
- Ensure all activities adhere to HIPAA privacy requirements and federal, state, and local regulations
Requirements
- Doctorate degree OR Master's with 2 years experience OR Bachelor's with 4 years experience OR Associate's with 8 years experience OR High school with 10 years experience in patient services or reimbursement
- Experience with buy-and-bill or infused pharmaceutical therapies
- Knowledge of reimbursement processes, including prior authorization, appeals, and denied claims management
- Understanding of HIPAA and FDA regulatory requirements
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in rare disease or orphan drug therapeutic areas
- Clinical background such as nursing or allied health
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM, and AI-related systems
