About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide logistical and non-medical educational assistance to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to facilitate access to rare disease therapies
- Educate patients on insurance coverage, prior authorization steps, and available financial support programs such as co-pay assistance
- Support physician offices and sites of care with reimbursement education, coding, and billing requirements for infused pharmaceutical products
- Investigate and resolve access challenges, including supporting denied claims and conducting claim reviews
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients and healthcare teams to support ongoing therapy compliance
- Partner with internal cross-functional teams, including Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Case Management, to improve patient access
Requirements
- Doctorate degree with 2 years of patient services or reimbursement experience, OR
- Master's degree with 4 years of patient services or reimbursement experience, OR
- Bachelor's degree with 6 years of patient services or reimbursement experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of buy and bill reimbursement processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Scientific, nursing, or other clinical background
- Experience in orphan or rare disease therapeutic areas
- Ability to handle difficult patient cases and resolve complex hurdles
- Strong analytical skills and ability to report on regional activity
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, including some overnight and weekend commitments
