About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist patent prosecutors with daily prosecution activities, including the preparation and filing of patent applications, responses to Office Actions, declarations, and assignments.
- Prepare Information Disclosure Statements (IDSs) for attorney review and manage ongoing IDS diligence for international patent portfolios.
- Draft client reporting correspondence related to patent prosecution for attorney review.
- Manage the payment of patent maintenance and annuity fees.
- Proactively monitor attorney patent prosecution dockets and prepare necessary documents and correspondence for upcoming activities.
- Maintain client digital files and update patent family tracking information.
- Conduct Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) patent filings and assist with related prosecution issues.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of legal assistant experience specifically in the patent field.
- Bachelor's degree or a professional certificate from a business or secretarial school.
- Comprehensive knowledge of USPTO Patent Center filing and tracking systems.
- Familiarity with foreign patent office websites (e.g., EPO, Canadian Patent Office).
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with law firm document management systems such as iManage.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
