Pastoral Officer

Responsibilities

• Support the consistent implementation of the academy behaviour policy
• Manage the calm and purposeful movement of students throughout the academy
• Work with the behaviour team to monitor and supervise students during breaks and lunch
• Manage afternoon detentions and oversee student entrance into the breakfast club
• Act as a liaison between the academy and the local community, including the police
• Mentor students on Personal Support Plans (PSPs) and present progress reports
• Supervise students who are internally excluded and support their re-integration
• Follow up on truancy, attendance concerns, and student safety issues such as bullying
• Prepare student files for disciplinary panels or exclusion hearings

Requirements

• GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
• Two years of experience working in an educational establishment
• Experience managing challenging student behaviour and meeting diverse needs
• Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures
• Basic knowledge of first aid (e.g., emergency first aid course)
• Experience working with families and teaching staff to support student progress
