About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach a one-credit hour introductory Swing Dance course for Musical Theater majors once per week for 90 minutes.
- Develop or adapt a current course syllabus covering fundamental technique and theory in a theatrical context.
- Instruct students on basic partnering, foundational footwork, rhythm, musicality, and introductory swing combinations.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours and build positive rapport with students and faculty.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner and submit mid-semester progress reports and final grades.
- Meet all designated class periods and coordinate coverage or rescheduling in the event of emergencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of teaching dance at the college or professional level.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
