Part-Time Faculty: SMC 500: Performance for Sports Media

Responsibilities

• Teach SMC 500: Performance for Sports Media during the Fall 2026 semester (Tuesdays/Thursdays 2:00pm-3:20pm).
• Focus on developing students' critical voice and on-camera performance skills for sports reporting.
• Instruct students on authoritative and conversational delivery for sets, packages, interviews, and live remote locations.
• Develop a comprehensive course syllabus and prepare all necessary instructional materials.
• Hold weekly office hours to provide mentorship and support to students.
• Grade assignments and examinations in a timely manner and submit required progress reports and final grades.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Ability to instruct classes on the designated days and times on the Syracuse, NY campus.
• Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology (computers, projectors, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Professional experience in on-air performance.
• Background in media, reporting, or sports broadcasting.
